Countdown to 2025 #6 - Sequoit Creek Park Naming

As construction for Antioch’s newest park neared completion, Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner announced in March a community-driven naming process aimed at engaging our residents. Spearheaded by the Village Board and the Antioch Parks Commission, the initiative invited residents to submit suggestions that reflected the community's identity and values.

The new park at Main and Orchard streets would provide a hub for recreational activities, family gatherings, and community events. The naming process was an opportunity for every member of our village to contribute and leave a lasting legacy for future Antioch generations.

The Parks Commission shortlisted the suggestions and residents voted on their choice of the final names, which was then presented to the Village Board for final approval. Sequoit Creek Park was officially named in June after two rounds of public input from hundreds of village residents.
